: Cellulitis can spread locally but it does not jump around the body. This does not sound like sepsis which is a systemic reaction to infection which often manifests with fever, elevated inflammatory markers, and vital sign abnormalities (rapid heart rate/respiratory rate, low blood pressure)

If your umbilical area is reddened and feels like a burning sensation, go back to your physician for evaluation and appropriate treatment.

So it does not remain hidden for more than 24-48 hours. Of course there may be some exceptions but if it is hiding for more than 3-4 days, it is not cellulitis!
