i've been experiencing itchy eyes. when i take my contacts out my eyes feel like somethings scrapping against them when i blink, only lasts about an hr?

Couple possibilities: You should see ophthalmologist. Itching eyes is usually allergic. your could try an over-the-counter allergy drop like pataday. With contact lenses, though, there are a lot of other possibilities like giant papillary conjunctivitis, limbal stem cell failure, corneal hypoxia, and poor fitting lenses causing small scratches.  Have it checked out.

is it safe to take allergy pills for my itchy eyes?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Adults and older children can take allergy pills such as claritin, zyrtec, allegra, or benadryl (diphenhydramine). Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is sedating. The allergy pills help with allergies in the eyes, nose, skin, etc... However, eye allergies sometimes need prescription eye drops, nasal sprays, or singulair, for extra help with symptoms. A few people are allergic to one antihistamine, but can use the other antihistamines.

can i take torbramycin ophthalmic solution if i have itchy eyes?

Not recommended: Tobramycin drops are for eye infections.  They can be irritating to the eyes themselves and may make allergy worse.  Best to use an antihistamine drops - many out there on the market and if things don't clear up, see an ophthalmologist.

Have it evaluated.: You may need to see an allergy specialist and determine what you are allergic to.

can clindamycin cause itchy eyes or anything like that? if an allergic reaction, how soon after first starting to take the medication would it appear?

Accepted Answer

: A drug allergic reaction may be present. It should improve with allergy eye drops. Rinse with saline and if redness persists, see your physician. For eye pain or change in vision, see the Emergency room.

i've been experiencing itchy eyes and sneezing after deep cleaning. i have a box of 24h allegra but it expired 02/2022. would it be safe to take one?

: Yes, you can take it. Usually the medication is still effective at least one year beyond the expiration date on box. There is no risk of taking an expired tablet of allegra.

i have realy itchy eyes i've tried itchy eye drops but that doesn't help what can i do.? i do have dry eyes i take restasis. but doesn't help the itch

Accepted Answer

Allergy and dry eyes: Dry eyes can exacerbate allergic conjunctivitis. You will need to maximize your dry eye treatment (beyond just Restasis). Are you using OTC allergy drops?  Prescription- strength allergy drops are much more effective.  See your eye MD.

i have severe allergies and itchy eyes. i use to take prednisone for allergies should i start taking it again?

Accepted Answer

No: Prednisone is like killing a fly with a shotgun when all you need is a flyswatter. Prednisone has a lot of side effects. It is far better to take antihistamines along with prescription nasal sprays. If that does not help, see an allergist for evaluation and possible allergy shots.

is is safe to take both zyrtec (cetirizine) and singulaiir?  recently i switched because my allergies have flared up this summer, but i still have lots of symptoms like sneezing and itchy eyes.

Yes: But both can cause mild sedation so be careful.

my doctor has me taking flonase 2x a day dimetapp every 4 hrs and zyrtec (cetirizine) 1x day. i'm still havin itchy eyes and coughing? what else can i take or do?

Allergic rhinnitis: Sometimes in addition to the above treatment some of my patients have benefited from leukotriene inhibitors like Montelukast or referral to allergy specialist
