: One way to tell in you is to try low fat DASH diet for two weeks measure lipids THEN ADD pizza for 2 weeks and retest blood. Let us know what u find . Good DASHING!

: Congratulations on established healthy eating habits.  Be sure to get protein, calcium, leafy vegetables and grains.  If you are also exercising every day (or every other day), it is likely that your diet can include pizza and a serving of dessert.  Maintain a healthy weight and you will be doing very well to limit the risk of diabetes.

Depends . . .: Current recommendation is to start taking a statin if your LDL (bad) cholesterol is greater than 190mg/dL even if you don't have heart disease. Lipids: 300mg a day would be a good limit but i wouldn't drive myself crazy over it, i recommend trying to cut fat consumption back as much as you can tolerate, if not enough to reach goal, we can add meds.

Not necessarily: A high HDL is felt to be protective.  There is nothing to suggest that an unusually high HDL would be problematic.

i love chocolate soo much but recently my blood show high level of cholesterol.should i stop having chocolate. what should i do ?

Dark Chocolate: Dark chocolate is best.  Other chocolate has lots of sugar and milk in it.  Your doc will advise you as to what to do about high cholesterol.  Change in what you eat can account for 15 - 20 % of the total.  Our liver makes most of it.  Marine fish oil and/or red yeast rice are natural ways to lower cholesterol but you need to visit a natural doc or a nutritionist who has studied how to do this.

Good Fat is good: It's only bad fat, like transfats, that are bad.  Good fat like oilve oil and coconut oil is good for us.  The low fat diet is not healthy.  About 20% of your lab values for cholesterol come from diet, the rest from our body.   Being a fat head can be good.  Peace and good health.

Varies: &lt; 160 is good. &gt;200-230 is a bit high. &gt;230 is very high. &gt;300 is very very high.

Accepted Answer

Depends: Depends on whether you have other risk factors like smoking, diabetes, HTN or family history of premature heart attacks. Also depends on what your LDL and HDL are? 227 isn't very elevated but you're entering the coronary prone age and are wise to be thinking about it. Regular exercise, normal weight, not smoking and a vegetarian or mediterranean diet will do a lot of good!
