for years i eat as little as i can, one meal some times none. i drink weight loss shakes. i obessed with losing weight. i tried to purge. but i couldn't get sick. could this be a eating disorder?

Eating Disorder?: Yes, an eating disorder is a POSSIBILITY.  Please see your doctor ASAP.  The sooner this is dealt with the better.  You MAY need to see a clinical psychologist who specializes in eating disorders.  Peace and good health.

will you lose weight by drinking water 12 times a day?

Yes, if you eat less: If you drink water instead of eating and your heart is normay enough to push blood to the kidneys and the kidneys are normal enough to get rid of the water you will lose weight. Of course, if you eat less and don't drink water 12 times a day you will also lose weight. All the water does is fill you up so you can't eat as much.

i am 145lbs. & wanting to lose weight. i use a 64fl oz. gatorade bottle to fill up for water. is it bad to drink a 64fl oz. of water 4 times a day?

Too much water: That is 2-3x as much as you should drink.  Why are you wanting to lose weight if your weight is 145lbs?  You do not mention your height, but that is likely normal for most heights already.

How about 2 liters?: Drinking water can help with weight loss if it is substituting for other drinks that contain calories. Drinking water (or plain green tea) before a meal can also fill up the stomach somewhat, and make a person satisfied with a smaller meal. If substituting water for non-fat milk, one would need another source for vitamin d and calcium. Caution when >2 liters/day (excess water dilutes the sodium).

Calories in-calories: The real key to losing weight is in the calories consumed versus the colorier expended (such as in exercise).  The key is to drive your metabolism to burn FAT.....

Not sure it does...: Like so many alternative treatments or products, tradition, theory, hope and anecdotal evidence do not hold up when a formal review of evidence is done.  See the excellent answers on weight loss on this site and drink tea because you like it, not for its supposed magical properties.

No: Some researchers and diet gurus do not like this due to triggering body's response to sweet (even though no sugar), but in long run, better to be happy and for majority will not make that dramatic of a change in rate of weight loss.

Weight loss: Consuming 1500 Cal/day or less will cause weight loss.
 
Commend yourself if you have maintained average weight for your age and height for a year, have good energy and functioning well.

Caffeine and wt loss: Caffeine does increase metabolism. That is why it is an ingredient in a lot of weight loss supplements. It can increase heart rate and blood pressure.

Alcohol contains: 7 calories/gram -- compared to 4 each for carbohydrates and proteins and 9 for fat. That doesn't include the mixer, juice, etc with the alcohol or the food you eat while drinking. The more calories you take in, the harder it is to burn them off and lose weight. Drinking in moderation is not a problem, but in excess is a health risk.
