Misoprostol alone is less effective.

In any event, the best way to tell if this worked is to follow a blood test. A quantitative beta-hCG should be checked now and in three days. By looking at what happens with this test result you can find out if the abortion worked.

You need 2 get: Follow up.  The action of that medicine can be hard to predict.  It would depend on how far along you are.  Once it happens it's generally a memorable event with more that some clots.  It's impossible to say but see what happens and make sure u get seen.

i took cytotec 2 days ago. i was expecting for a bleeding right after 24 hours but all i can see is a discharge of brownish with foul odor. is this normal?? how could i know if i already had my miscarriage?

Re-exam needed: You will need a follow up ultrasound or serum hCG to determine if the procedure was complete by your abortion provider. Since there is an odor an infection may also be present.

i have very little/slight/minor bleeding even after 24 hours since using 800mcg misoprostol vaginally. does it mean that the abortion failed because i didn't pass out large clots, just minor bleeding that can't even fill a pantliner?

"Medical abortion" ?: Misoprostol is not always effective.  If bleeding (like a usual period) does not occur in the next several days, see your gyn physician for an exam and perhaps additional testing ( a serum HCG test).  If this test is strongly positive, your gyn physician may recommend a minor surgical procedure (a "D&amp;C" ).

The : The only way to know for sure is to have a pregnancy test. This can be done at home or in your doctor's office. Based on what you described it sounds like the treatment worked in terminating your pregnancy, but this needs to be confirmed with a follow up pregnancy test. On the other hand, it is normal for your regular period to take a few months to resume after taking misoprostol. Your body's hormone levels need time to normalize.  This may be the explanation as to why your periods have not resumed.

: It will happen within 24 hours. Bleeding is at least the same as a normal period, not only spotting.

Needs a doctor: She needs an exam from a obgyn doctor.  It depends on how far along her pregnancy is/was -- obgyn can advise her once all history is shared & physical findings are known.
