im a newly diag dieabetic im taking 2000 mlg metformin a day my blood sugar was 100 this am i ate a bolw of whole grain cerial w/ a cup of whole milk and a cup of coffee no sugar , my blood sugar went to 260. i took my meds and didn't eat till 4 ish this

That's : That's a high sugar but sugar tends to shoot up within 1-2 hours after lots of carbs like cereal. It may take some weeks for the full effect of metformin. You may need additional treatment along with the metformin. I suggest you see a certified diabetes educator and dietitian for further guidance. Test your sugar at varying times before and 2 hours after meals and bring in this record book to your visits. Your hemoglobin a1c is a good test of average sugar over the past 2-3 months. my daughter turns one today. how should we transition her from formula? what type of milk should she drink? whole milk?

Happy Birthday Girl!: Well, you may get different answers because there isn't one-right way to do it. 2% or whole milk--some would argue whole milk is better--but in general they don't need whole milk (us is too fat as it is). Any how, mix some milk in the formula and increase amount of milk over a couple of wks so she won't notice too much of a change. Some kids change over without having to mix. Congrats & good luck.

is there a difference between enfagrow transition & whole milk  which one is better?

Formula: Would be better than whole milk up to age two, as it contains all the needed vitamins and minerals not available in the whole milk, moreover, other nutrients are well balanced. If your child likes it continue, if not whole milk after age one, is the next best choice, but no milk isn't recommended, wish you both wellness

is it possible that one give formula milk to a child with whole milk allergies?

Probably not: It depends on what allergic reactions your child have to whole milk. There are many ways that milk allergy can present, from mild to serious. It can affect the gut, skin, lung or can be life threatening. If it is a mild reaction like fussiness / gas, replace whole milk with partially hydrolyzed formula like enfamil gentlease. Otherwise, talk to an allergist or replace with rice, almond or soy milk.

No fiber: Whole milk is good for baby cows, but not too healthy for adults. One reason is that it is 100 % digested and absorbed ( unless lactose intolerant). When that happens it sucks the fluid out of the colon along with it. It has 0% fiber. When you have it with your cereal you are getting fiber which holds fluid. Besides whole milk has 160 calories in 8 oz. Drink sugar free almond milk, 30 calories.

Milk: It is recommended to switch to whole milk at one year.  The recommended amount is 2 cups a day (to provide adequate vitamin d) but not much more.  When kids are "milkaholics" they actually can become iron deficient.  I'd shoot for 2 cups (16oz) per day and stop there.  (in a cup - get rid of the bottles too.).

Cow's Milk: At 1 yo we recommend starting cow's milk. It depends on the patient's weight, but you can start with whole milk and then your pediatrician will tell you according to his weight of another type is needed (skim, 1 or 2%). Most whole milk in the US is fortified with Vit D.  Limit the amount to 16oz a day. Too much milk can cause iron deficiency anemia.

Normal: This can be normal. It is recommended that children at 1 year be drinking whole milk. Unlikely due to lactose intolerance since he can already drink 2% milk fine.

Whole milk is: Higher in fat ; calories then skim milk, 1% or non-fat. If you take in more calories than you burn then you will gain weight. However the weight will be distributed throughout your body - not just on the buttocks.
