Depends on…: …the size of the portion. One site states that one cup of generic thai basal chicken contains 375 calories, which, by itself sounds fairly healthful. Second portions will naturally increase calorie count as will side dishes, dessert, beverage.

It depends: Upon how much you eat, how it's prepared and what else you eat/drink with it. The difference between the two is insignificant. Check w/a registered dietitian.

Accepted Answer

Steamed rice.: It does not. So if you take 1 cup of dry rice and steam it it it becomes more but the calories in the total amount of rice is the same. But a cup of steamed rice has less rice in it that a cup of dry rice.

No...: The caloric content of rice is based on it's dry weight.  My sources say that 1/4 cup of raw brown rice is 171 calories; twice that much, or 1/2 cup, would be 342 calories.  Because rice absorbs so much water, the volume when cooked increases dramatically, but that water doesn't add additional calories.  If you add butter or oil to the water, though, you need to count that.  Good wishes:)

Doesn't fill you up: If you are on a restricted calorie diet, other foods will help you feel full with a lot less calories. Bread and rice offer a lot of calories which convert quickly to sugar in the body. Then you are hungry again. Whole fresh fruit and vegetables offer a lot more nutritional value and are more slowly digested.

hi, 5'5 and 180 lbs i'm trying to lose weight and be around 150 lbs how many calories do i need to eat. i'm cutting out sugar and rice and flour. i also work out in the gym. i have trouble balancing. ?

It depends.: I would aim for around 1500-1600 calories for weight loss, though it depends on how active you are.  While cutting out sugars and starches can be helpful there are other high calorie foods.  I recommend finding an online calorie tracker (there are many apps for apple and android (methyltestosterone) phones) that also allows you to account for exercise.  It's easy to underestimate how many calories you consume.

Heart : Heart palpitations can be caused by a number of things.  It depends on your age, low long it lasts, whether you get dizzy or chest pain with it, along with your other risk factors.  It can be related to anxiety, heart disease, thyroid disease, vasal vagal reaction or other metabolic conditions.  I think it may be wise to see your family doctor, especially since it's bothersome to you.

Food after tonsils: If the fried rice has a sauce and is not too dry , them it should be ok.  Generally soft foods are the best after a tonsillectomy.  Soups and sauces with food are good.good luck and feel better!
