Prozac has both a right and left isomer (like looking at yourself in the mirror and raising your hand and watching your raised r hand appear to be your l hand). Breakdown of fluoxetine yields nor-fluoxetine which lasts 2 x as long in the body as fluoxetine.

Less than a week: The usual starting dose for fluoxetine (Prozac) is 20 mg, so you were on a VERY low dose, so after 6 doses there is not very much med in your body. The time for 1/2 the medicine to be eliminated from the body in a healthy person is 3 days at most, so it would take about 6 days for the last dose to be completely eliminated. It may be gone sooner depending on how quickly your liver metabolizes it.

Up to 5 wks: It is difficult to determine the exact duration prozac will stay in the system, because people metabolize prozac at different rates.  The longest it would probably stay in the system is 5 wks, (this is the "safe" washout time when there is no risk for drug interaction with MAO inhibitors.). Prozac has a half life of 7-9 days (pretty large margin there). but that does not mean it is out in 14-18 d.

Side effects, if present, can be experienced sooner.
