Yes: Any kind of Antibiotic will kill off not only bad bacteria, but good bacteria as well. This can cause a wide variety of problems. Make sure you only take antibiotics when prescribed for you by a Dr for a specific illness. Take the medication for the full number of days to prevent resistance. Take probiotics once done so you can rebuild your gut flora. Call Dr for abd pain/diarrhea after Antibiotic

Unlikely: While a gastroenteritis can cause you to clear much of your bowel flora, it is very difficult at best to clear out "all" of them.

Some use probiotics: Probiotics may help during and after antibiotics. They are usually still alive if stored properly all the time from production through being on the store shelf. The microorganisms get weaker and die over time. The problem is nobody can really tell how much live material was in the package to start, how much is alive when one buys it, how much survives at home, nor how much goes to one's intestine.

No: Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) shouldn't negatively affect(weaken) your immune system but can cause  antibiotic induced diarrhea by altering the bacterial makeup of your intestinal tract, but in my experience this side effect is much more common when other classes of antibiotics are used.

if i am taking amoxicillin, loratadine and  tylenol (acetaminophen) for sinus infection, should i also take a probiotic and vitamin so i can keep good bacteria in my gut?

Great idea: this will help prevent opportunistic fungal infections from taking antibiotics like amoxicillin.

Colonoscopy: It is time for you to get a screening colonoscopy and get any polyps that may be there, removed. If you have polyps repeat the colonoscopy in less than 5 years.
Do not worry about short term variation in intestinal flora.

is its safe to take azithromycin 250 mg daily once for 2 months to treat mild acne? as prescribed by derma, im into 2nd month, with no side effects but heard that its not good for the gut & can cause resistent to bacteria?

: Acne is a complex disease but should have passed.  I would spend $ and go to uptodate.com and read ALL ABOUT IT. then discuss with your Derm again. Ask that you and he do a risk benefit analysis and then you can decide the risks you want to take.

Not at all: A 'prep' for a colonoscopy is designed to wash out the big visible chunks of stool that could interfere with visualizing the colon. Don't worry - the bacteria know how to survive and they will 'stick' to the lining of your colon. (I know it sounds gross but they are there to help you!) This is a routine procedure and I feel confident your colon health will be fine afterwards. I do recommend kefir
