Not easy to tell: Juvnile glaucoma is form that occurs in young people. Hopefully it is diagnosed and treated promptly. There is no set period of time for vision loss to occur. It depends on how severe is the degree of glaucoma and how high is the pressure. Young eyes are remarkably durable and can recover some vision even after a long period of increased pressure if treated.

Not really: These medicines do not cause glaucoma.  You must follow your instructions from your eye md and keep all scheduled appointments.  Unfortunately there are no guarantees in health and biology.

Probably not: Most forms of glaucoma can be treated but it takes active cooperation between the glaucoma doctor and the patient.  A few , but rare , progress despite the best of care. Most likely your girlfriend will do well.

Usually not: Glaucoma is generally a very treatable condition.  Loss of vision occurs when it is undetected, the treatment is not applied diligently (patient forgets drops or appointments) and only in rare cases does the condition seem to gallop on despite the best of treatment.  It is best treated by an ophthalmologist rather than an optometrist.

It depends: When properly treated, they usually don't go blind.  Acute forms of glaucoma can cause severe vision loss over a few days to weeks.  More chronic forms (most common) cause slow loss of peripheral vision and later central vision over years to decades.
