Road Trip: Hydrate well with water. Get up and walk around every couple of hours. While you are sitting in the car you can squeeze and release muscles in feet, calves, thighs and buttocks.

Ideas: When on a long trip of any sorts, breaking time up can be helpful.  You may want to set timers and play games.  Thinking like listening to audio book or podcast can help and changing focus (actually changing books after 30 minutes to 1 hour) can be helpful.  Chewing gum/eating but don't want to add a ton of extra calories.  The last recomm.--&gt; stop and brisk walk for 5 min every ~60 miles.

i have to be up at 4am for a road trip next week. is it bad to take sleeping pills early the night before to get full rest? side effects?

Sleeping pill: If  you are going to be driving early in the morning , I would not recommend  taking sleeping pills since you don't know how  it is going to affect you. Try to just go to bed early  &amp; hope to fall asleep on your own.  Good luck

how long do test results take after surgery to know if i have cancer? my aunt went in for a testing a couple days ago, we are very anxious to find out the results. her doctor said it should take a week or two, is that a normal wait time?

Results : Results can sometimes take over a week, especially if special stains have to be done on the tissue in order to finalize the diagnosis.  These can sometimes take a few days to complete.  However, most of the time at least a preliminary answer can be given within a few days of a biopsy or surgey.

upset stomach for 4 days. got home from a week long road trip 3 days ago. it hurts worse after i eat. could i have picked uo a virus? wait it out?

Soothe it: Listen to your body.  Avoid irritating foods that bother your stomach.  You can make a tea  with thyme 1 t dried leaves in 1 cup boiled water.  Chew on fennel seeds. Drink ginger tea. Eat mild foods like coked root vegeteables and white fish. Avoid sugar and processed foods, coffee and alcohol.

i took two 5-325 hydrocodone/acetaminophen tablets after surgery. how long do i wait before i can take hydroxyzine?

: You should avoid taking hydroxyzine within 4 hours of taking hydrocodone for avoiding CNS depression effect unless it is absolutely necessary then you take just a small dose of 12.5 mg only.

It : It really depends on a number of factors such as cause (e.G, spontaneous, procedure related), how it was treated (e.g., observation, chest tube, pleurodesis), size, and follow-up.  I would assume your doctor will repeat imaging (e.g., cxr or ct) to check to make sure the lung has completely re-expanded or that pneumothorax has not re-developed.  I would wait for this before making any long trips.  If it has re-expanded than the road trip should be fine.  But again it really depends on the factors cited above.

Depends: Most anesthesia recovery has occured by 24 hours post surgery.  Driving would depend on what type of surgery.  Call your surgeons office

Most go home: Most cholecystectomy are laparoscopic and go home the same day or at least the next day with a quick one week recovery.

Yes: That would be fine to do, for any travelers, as long as they are in a safe place to stop. Stop and smell the roses, enjoy the scenery.
