my daughter was diagnosed with croup.how long does last and how long does stridor last, and is phlegm associated with the croup.

Croup : Generally 3-4 days and improves with a one time dose of steroids; Deaxamathasone which may be repeated in 2 days if uncared. Breathing treatment are available for more rapid resolution of symptoms. Elevate her head and keep the room cool and not too dry. All the beast.

Unlikely: Croup has a very characteristic cough. And, it normally lasts about 5 days.  Stridor is concerning for an airway abnormality and should be evaluated.

Steroids?: Steroids are mainstay in croup treatment. Was dexamethasone or similar given?

Consult your doctor: It is not uncommon for chest xray and ct to be normal in mild cases. Your primary care physician may suggest further evaluation with blood tests. Rest and supportive care should help. If you are asthmatic, bronchiodilator may be needed. Antibiotics may be needed in some cases.

Shouldn't: If the trach is in, shouldn't happen unless something is wrong with trach or there is another airway issue going on below the trach. Discuss with your doctor.
