Quite common: Laryngeal edema is common cause of airway obstruction after extubation in intensive care patients and is thought to arise from direct mechanical trauma to larynx by the endotracheal tube. Sometimes edema associated with difficult intubation. If anatomy different, and intubation continues to be difficult, can have recurrent laryngeal edema.
