Bruised muscle: It depends on the severity of the bruise and the amount of tissue that is bruised.  Healing may take a few weeks to months to completely heal.

Well...: There will be a history of trauma to the area. If it's a deeper muscle the only symptom may be pain upon using the muscle or pushing on it. If it's more superficial you may see a bruise show up and you may see swelling in the area.

Imaging studies need: See your doctor for physical exam and x ray. Only x ray or CT exam can confirm if you have a fracture.

No best way?: I guess there is no "best" way. Use common sense. Heat some water not  to the point of burning the skin. Get a small towel or large gauze get it wet with the warm water and apply it over the diseased area. If that cools too fast warm it up more. If you have a heating pad just wrap it with some sort of cloth or linen so you don't apply the plastic of it directly over the skin. Avoid ointments under.

Bruise: Do you have a history of frequent "random bruises"? If so, the muscle soreness may not be related. The shooting pains are characteristic of nerve irritability. In view of all these symptoms, it would be advisable to be examined by a physician. Frequent appearance of random bruises calls for certain blood tests unless aspirin or nsaids like Aleve are responsible.

small slightly red bump on the middle of my left upper eyelash line. faint pain feels kind of like a sore muscle or bruise, what could it be?

Possibly sty: You may have a sty or blocked oil gland of the eyelash (gland of zeiss) that is secondarily inflamed or infected. Try mod. Hot compresses 2-4 times/day for about 10' followed by gentle massage with duted baby shampoo on a clean washcloth. This should help it resolve in about 7-10 days. If not and persistent or worsening, then an exam is needed to verify the lid lesion.

i'm overweight and out of shape but moved some furniture around yesterday. my lower right abdomen and pelvic area hurts now if i breathe sharply or move a certain way. feels tender but no visible bruise. is it just sore muscle? home remedies to treat?

: Yes- very likely. Use local heat for 20 mts 3 x a day, avoid lifting, take otc ibuprofen for 3-4v days. Hope you feel better

Pain: Groin pain can come from a muscle strain injury or a hernia. Needs a physical examination with a doctor to tell what you may have. Muscle strain injuries heal on their own. Hernias may need surgery.

on christmas day i noticed a lump by my armpit that is sore. it's like a bruise/sore muscle kind of pain. the lump is smaller than the tip of my finger. i've tried calling my family doctor but he may be on leave. should i get it checked out asap?

Fever?: If the area increasing size, pain or is associated with fever, please see a physician right away. Otherwise, use topical antibiotic cream,ice pack and Ibuprofen and see a physician within 48 hours. You may have an infected lymph node.
