occasionally, i get bad heartburn, & i have taken pantoprazole in the past & it works well, i'm usually on it for about 3 to 4 weeks maybe once a year, but i have recently heard it can cause cancer, please advise, as i am nervous now to take this. ?

Not aware: Pantoprazole is one of the few drugs known as PPI's or proton pump inhibitors that are widely used nowadays. I am not aware of any comprehensive study proving a link between their use and cancer. They can certainly cause long term side effects and interfere with absorption of nutrients in the long range. Using it sporadically appears safe, let your doc know about symptoms and use of OTC drugs.

4-6 weeks: The medication should begin healing the ulcer immediately and symptoms should resolve within a week.  In general it takes about 6 weeks to heal an ulcer.

It wouldn't be best: If you want to get rid of your sinus infection you would need to take an antibiotic. Ibuprofen only takes pain, it doesnt get to the root cause of the the infection. Antibiotics will help get to the cause of the problem

Tecta & ginger tea: Tecta reaches optimal effect in 2-6 hrs depending on dose; also has long half-life; so should give 24-hr relief. Ginger tea widely recommended for heartburn. Mixed opinions by docs & users in re its effect on lower esophageal sphincter & reflux. Try them individually; then together & go with treatment that gives u best results. Limiting (food) triggers also helps.

It depends...: on multiple factors, the size, location, and cause of the ulcer being most prominent.  If or when a followup EGD is necessary depends mostly on whether it's located in the stomach or duodenum, and whether bleeding occurred.  Follow your gastroenterologist's advice.

Globus sensation: Greetings. The lump feeling in your throat is often referred to as a globus sensation. This is usually caused by either acid or a chemical located in our stomach called "pepcin" that helps us digest the protein in our food. If these chemical reflux into the throat we sense a "lump" like feeling. It often takes weeks maybe months to fully resolve. A low acid diet often helps speed resolution too.

i take pantoprazole at night rather than in the morning. does that change the effect of the medication?

Not much clinically: One time a day meds are such because their duration in the body is such that they don't need to be given more frequently. After a few doses you build a baseline of remaining meds to be as effective as they will be. Take it AM or PM as you wish to fit your lifestyle. The main goal is to be consistent.
