Can take a bit: Compound w is one of several treatments for warts which works by trying to irritate it chemically to break it down.  2 weeks to 1 month is typical.  Sometimes the wart will get red, black, irritated or inflamed. While there is no perfect method for wart removal, i find the most effective is having a doc use liquid nitrogen which is colder than the otc versions and may clear it faster.

Corn on toe: Basic problem that must be removed is pressure on the toes from poorly fitting shoes (e.g. Pointy toed high heels). Wear footwear with adequate toebox & compound w should do the trick of softening & removing corn. Caution: diabetics, people with poor foot circulation should not use such treatments as they can cause ulcers & lead to infections. If above suggestions don't work, see podiatrist.

Another freeze: Warts are living collections of hydrated tissue & virus. You can freeze it, chemically destroy it, cut it off or wait 5 or so years and some just fall off. Any earlier effort that failed likely did not get the root system & the wart re-established itself. The simplest method of removal is freezing, sometimes several times with the top dead skin pared down before refreezing a week later.

How to destroy it...: A dermatologist or some primary care doctors can destroy a plantar wart by freezing it, by cutting off the top of it and freezing the base of it, or by using an electric needle to zap it to death... or even doing surgery on it if it is huge and deep. So, it all depends on how big it is, which part of the foot it's on, what the patient wants to do, and what equipment the doctor has in the office.

They enter and grow in superficial skin layers with minimal exposure to the bodies immune surveillance system. Most clear in 2 years. I am aware of people who have had HPV wart strains that persisted for decades. You can have them frozen/acid killed or lasered off.

Aldara (imiquimod): Aldara (imiquimod) is used to treat genital warts. Aldara (imiquimod) is applied 3x/wk for a maximum of 16 weeks. Apply until total clearance or the maximum duration.

Many options...: 65% of warts resolve on their own within 2yrs without treatment. If you like, you can try home remedies such duct tape, rubbing raw garlic over then cover, tea-tree oil application etc...Have been reported with success. Otc med such as compound -w etc...If severe or persistent, consult your doc as there many treatment options..Topicals vs freezing/electrodesication etc...Good luck.

Location?: If the:diabetes is sever and it is locted on the foot it amy be nes managed b a physician or podiatrist. Otherwise duct tape by itself replaced once every few days can safely macerate the wart and cause it to peel off. Be careful with over the counter acids, they may too irritating for a diabetic. Topicla5 fu could be used twice a day .It is prescription cream.
