Usually 6 to 8 hours: If it is not enteric coated. Enteric coated can stay upto 24 hours but not more than that.

Alcohol drinking is not safe and has consequences of its own, but no, it will not interfere with ibuprofen.

Insignificant amount: Advil (ibuprofen) has about 85% absorption and has half-life about 2-4 hours. So, assume it is 4 hours half life: 85% of 400mg (two advils) =340mg absorbed. In 4 hours, you have 170mg left, in 8 hours there is 85mg, and at 12 hours only 42.5mg left. 42.5mg total in an adult is not adequate to do much at all. Having fun learning. Ibuprofen - xarelto: You have a list of drugs to avoid with Xarelto. Ibuprofen is one of them. 
When you are on Xarelto you MUST speak to your doctor or your pharamcist before taking ANY medications especially herbals.

Depends: Clearance of this medication is done by the liver and is dose- and liver function-dependent.  Basically, if you took 200mg, it is gone in 2 hrs, 400mg in 4hrs, 600mg in six and so on.  You should not take more than 800mg at a time though and those dosage times just tell when it is safe for another dose, complete clearance may take longer.  As for surgery, most docs want you off for 2 wks prior.

See below: The half life for Ibuprofen is about 2 hours, thus after 2 hours - 1/2 is left - (600 mg).  After 1 day - 12 half lives - there is only 1/4096th left - practically none.

why do i have to stop all blood thinning medications a week before a scope or surgery if ibuprofen is out of your system in 24hrs?

Clotting factors: Even when the medication is out of the system the effects of the medicine persist. For example effect of aspirin on platelet function persist for 3 days. Similarly effects of so called blood thinners last for a few days after last intake of the medication.

i have a headache after having severe diarrhea yesterday. is it ok to take advil (ibuprofen) or will it upset my system?

Dehydration: Try drinking a lot of water and taking some soup or broth.. that will help resolve your headache because most likely it's due to dehydration. Sometimes a virus can cause a headache and diarrheal type illness but I would try REHYDRATING first. I think that will get you some relief! Advil (ibuprofen) or Motrin could be damaging to the kidneys in a dehydrated state-so that's another reason I would want hydration

i woke up with a bad headache, is it okay to take ibuprofen? i took 20 mg of prednisone wednesday morning but haven't since. is it out of my system?

Be careful!: Yes, you can take ibuprofen - but only as directed. Please call your Dr about the prednisone! This is NOT a medication for taking PRN! It is not a question of it being out of your system - it's way more complicated. Only use after Dr advice and always taper off. Please - it's important. Consult Dr ASAP - Best!
