my 7 month old baby has developed a rash on her cheeks and chin. it is very red. i thought it was because of drooling as she is teething, but it just flared up suddenly and didnt respond to vaseline as a barrier cream.

Aquaphor or Vasoline: Drool rash is very common in children.  It may worsen during teething (when your baby tends to drool more) or during feeding.  Typically using a barrier lotion/cream such as aquaphor or vasoline will protect the skin from the drool and the irritation will decrease.  If your baby's rash begins to look more yellow and crusty see a pediatrician as your baby may have developed a secondary infection.

Clean the affected area 2-3 times per day with a warm washcloth and pat dry. Apply a gentle emollient cream containing lanolin to protect those areas, especially before nap and bedtimes.

Unrelated: This has nothing to do with parental HSV, as such a virus, if transmitted to the newborn shows up as a massive infection before a month  of age. Babies that reflux cry from discomfort (heartburn) which the nexium can help. This should pass as the kid gets older.

Loose link: There is no strong evidence that teething causes diarrhea or fever, contrary to popular belief.  Green stools in an infant can be caused by infection, diet, or malabsorption.  Babies with non-bloody diarrhea without vomiting, weight loss, fever or other signs of illness can be closely monitored for a few days, but beyond this should be evaluated for an underlying condition.

my 22month old son is busy teething(canines coming in) he had a fever of 38-40 degrees three days ago that lasted for about 24hours and since then has had a terrible nappy rash. ive tried basic off the shelf bum cremes without luck. please advise?
