Diarrhea: If you have diarrhea after being in hospital for surgery you should be evaluated for clostridium difficile colitis.  Do not wait on this, and if your doctor is not willing to listen, find somebody else.

Variable time: Some people have no diarrhea afterwards.  Of those that do, it usually resolves after a few weeks.  Avoiding fatty and fried foods usually helps.  If the diarrhea persists, there is a medicine that can help with it.

Depends: When was your surgery? Would not want to combine immodium & narcotic pain pills. Best is to address the issue first with avoiding fried, fatty, greasy foods. Drink plenty of water. Check with your doctor or surgeon before adding medication like this. Immidium will not correct the cause if the diarrhea either & likely to have better results with prescription cholestyramine. See your doctor.

Avoid fatty foods: it is very common to have after GB surgery for few month. If troublesome watch what you eat.  You may realize how much fat in some foods- regular milk can add to problem.

Detail Hx &amp; Physical: After cholecystectomy, patients have reported post cholecystectomic syndromes which includes, abdominal symptoms, dyspepsia, and diarrhea. Some patients who underwent cholecystectomy experienced diarrhea, which could be associated with the malabsorption of bile acid Go easy on the fat. Avoid high-fat foods, fried and greasy foods, and fatty sauces and gravies for at least a week after surgery.

Postop: Shortness of breath following recent surgery is always of concern and should be investigated by the attending surgeon. Possible serious issues would be blood loss anemia, pulmonary embolism,fluid retention due to heart,kidney or liver issues or other lung pathology. 
 Nausea,diarrhea and fatigue are nonspecific unless very severe. Your surgeon will order appropriate tests and stool culture.

Cholistid/Questran: Cholestid is a bile binding drug which should stop the diarrhea. Diarrhea is the key linking most of the other symptoms
