? vaginal thrush: possibly secondary to the antibiotic, benadryl (diphenhydramine) won't help in this instance, talk to your doctor about holding the ampicillin, or try something OTC for the thrush, keep the area clean and dry, if that doesn't work see your doctor, good luck

can allergies make you swell up and retain water? i notice when i take claritin it lasts longer than benadryl (diphenhydramine) and im not retaining fluids as much

Unexpected: If you mean swelling which lasts hours at a time, it is not from water retention and is called angioedema.   Water retention tends to be most noticeable at the legs and ankles and would dent if you press your finger against the area.   Claritin does not relieve water retention but may reduce angioedema and yes it has a longer duration of action than benadryl (diphenhydramine).

Allergies: you have to give the steroids some time to work.  It isn't instantaneous.  Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can be taken at a dose of 25-50 mg every 6 hours.  However, newer antihistamines are less sedating such as Zyrtec and Claritan.

Yes: Benadryl allergy (diphenhydramine) is an older antihistamine while mucinex-d is a mucolytic (break up mucus) combined with a decongestant.  It is generally safe to take these products together but not exceed the usual recommended dose.  Drowsiness and GI upset would be the most common potential side effects.
