A member asked:

If i take claritin (loratadine) but it doesn't work because i have a more intense cold with allergies, can i take something else tonight like benedryl?

Cold: Claritin (loratadine) will only relieve symptoms due to allergy not a viral cold. There are OTC medications for cold-related symptoms. Since you have not mentioned any of your symptoms from which you seek relief, Its not possible to make specific recommendation. You may ask your pharmacist for assistance in selecting the best medication for you, especially given your existing meds.

Antihisamines: Antihistamines don't work well for most colds. They are for allergy symptoms. You should be using meds designed for colds if you have a Cold.
