Lip filler: hello ~ fat transfers are way safer. The fillers no matter how safe they say they are, its a foreign substance with problems known and unknown at time of injection and do not go away and might have severe long term problems. Be happier with a slightly less long lasting cosmetic effect but overall safer procedure. The fat transfer does work well for up to 5 years.Always ask WHY you're doing this!

Fillers Temporary: Lips can be augmented with biologic tissue fillers (dermal fillers), synthetic implants, or your own fat.

Implants are permanent, as is a fat transfer, though fat graft does not survive as well in the lips as it does in other areas of the body. 

Biologic tissue fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm last anywhere from 4 to 6 months.

Possible side affects vary depending on the filler used.

Reabsorbed over time: Cosmetic fat injections will gradually be reabsorbed by the body over time. Some estimate that about half of this may happen within 3 to 6 months, although individual results may of course vary.

Kiss a frozen pole?: Well, do your lips also LOOK fat? If that's the case, you may have what's called angioedema, and if a few Benadryl (diphenhydramine) don't help, then you need to see a doctor, especially if it spreads to your tongue or throat. You say you have high blood pressure; certain medications can cause AD--so ask your doctor, NOW, whether your lips are fat or not. As for the rest-wait and see--clear-up the med thing first

Lip burns: 39 year old gentleman with lip burns. How painful are your burns? If they were minor first degree burns simply applying topical antibiotic ointment or lip balm will help but if it was a painful blistering partial thickness burn or a serious burn with blisters that you can tell is deep but has no pain you may require a full exam to determine whether you require further treatment. Wear lip sunscreen

my upper lip is swollen. sometimes it does it once every few months. but it's lasted longer than before. going on 5-6 hours now. it hurts. any ideas?

Many possibilities..: Infection, inflammation and even allergic reaction.  Worst is allergic reaction.... We call it angioedema.  It can progress very quickly.  If the swelling extends to the inside of your mouth or interferes with breathing or swallowing... Call 911 and get help.  If not.. Call you doctor or get help to treat it.

Expect days at least: Whether this is an allergic response or just a local reaction, the process involves capillaries leaking fluid into the tissue. The process of reversing this reaction usually takes days.

Weeks: If it is an allergy take your medicine like zyrtec (cetirizine). Check pollen count in your area from pollen.Com. Shower after going outside and change your bed linens.  If persists see your primary care doctor.
