Varies.: Depends on the machine being used to process the laboratory result.  Some older machines can take up to 1 hour, some machines take about 5 minutes after the sample has been put in.  The getting the results, printing them out, or faxing them could take forever.  But that's a human that's responsible for that process.  :)

CBC repeat: Based on the information provided, your physician may have been concerned that there was a GI source of bleeding leading to the diagnosis of anemia. If anemia was the concern, I would advise checking the smear and looking for other causes as well.

HIV vs AIDS: Sometime it can take 10 or more years for HIV to progress into AIDS. Another HIV test at this time is not unreasonable.

Multiple sclerosis: There is no single blood test to diagnose multiple sclerosis.  Brain lesions on the MRI, an abnormal electrical study known as evoked potential, and objective evidence of brain or spinal cord disease on exam together offer the highest chance of a diagnosis.

: These tests only take a few hours to perform, but then they are typically reviewed by the ordering physician before the results are released to the patient. If you have not gotten any results back after this holiday weekend, then a phone call to the physician's office would be appropriate. Good luck.

if i took 2 excedrin extra strength a day several days in a row before my blood test, will my liver results be out of range? if so, how long before my cbc should i not take it to get normal test results? suffer from migraines so it's a concern?

: The medication would not materially alter the results of blood tests. Please note that all laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests.

Testing time: Time to do the tests is about an hour. However, when you take into account the time it takes the blood to get to the lab and the paper work associated with it, about 4 hours is a reasonable turn around time. How long it takes your doctor to inform you of the results is variable.

38yr old female recent cbc normal.but b12 1119 ug/l range 130-900ug/l eat salmon almost daily.can lab tests place a percentage of healthy people outside the high range on testing? b12 test in march was 750ug/l i dont take supplements .i feel healthy?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, the B12 level is not a cause for concern.
