They are wrong!!...: Your ob/gyn is not correct in their recommendation.  Here is a quote from a reputable source:

"females of childbearing potential should not become pregnant during therapy or for 1 month following discontinuation of isotretinoin".

On the day you stop therapy, take a pregnancy test.  Then take a test 30 days later.  At that point, you are clear to try for pregnancy.  Good luck!

2 months: The Accutane program called ipledge follows a woman along during her use of accutane. She has to be on 2 forms of birth control until 1 month after stopping the accutane, and then check a pregnancy test at that time (in addition to other earlier pregnancy tests during the ipledge program). Some people like to be extra cautious, and wait another month longer, before trying for a baby.

See details: Accutane can cause severe fetal deformities if you become pregnant while taking it. It will not cause long term issues as regards the ability to become pregnant.

No relation: There is no evidence to suggest that as long as you wait a month after taking Accutane it will affect your ability to become pregnant. It certainly does nothing to affect your ovaries. It only affects the developing fetus.

No: Accutane stays in your system for 30 days after you stop taking it. Most likely your baby is not affected after 3 months. You should discuss this with your ob.

Negligible risk: The half life of Accutane (time for half to be gone from your body) is about a day. By three months out there is none in your system to cause a problem. There is no data suggesting a higher frequency of birth defects in women who took the med at times unrelated to an actual pregnancy.
