No longer a stye: It is probably a chalazion. This is a little bump that is not painful.  You can treat a chalazion by applying a hot wash clothe to it 3-4 times per day.  If it does not go away in a few weeks, see an ophthalmologist.

You can tell by: The decrease in pain and irritation.  The bump will likely go away with time.

Lotion: Make sure you are not putting any lotions around your eyes. This is the time of year for sunblock, which is notorious for causing styes. * let me know. I hope this helps.

Depends: You may not have a stye!  it may be a different problem called a chalazion.  Stye is usually caused by an inflammed hair follicle along the eye lid due to a bacteria.  They are very painful, usually point and will go away fairly promptly with proper treatment.  A chalazion may remain for many weeks and may have to be surgically removed.  If concerned, see eye doctor very soon.

Sty/stye: This is due to clogged meibomian glands at base of eyelash. Recurrence might be due to scarred glands. Use diluted tea tree oil (natural way) of cleaning eyelashes with eyes closed. See eyedoc2020@blogspot.com for more info. See eyeMD if continues to recur for Intraductal gland probing or incision &amp; drainage if natural remedies/antibiotic creams do not help.

hi. my son has been to the doctor twice. he has a bump on his eye. first treated as eczema for a week. for the last 2 weeks we have been using an ointment for a sty. it isn't going away. no discomfort and its just a bump. no puss/sleep?

i had sty in right eye wied stye out and put hand sanitizer in it even tryed to pop it and its been longer then a month and the and the bump small still ther don't hurt but still there why is bump still there and why wont go away it was a stye.

The : The worst thing you could do is put a hand sanitizer near your eye, as well as try and "pop" the stye.  For proper treatment of chronic/recurrent styes, you need to see your eye care professional.

Quick treatment: There is no way to prevent them from starting although some would advocate lid hygiene to lower the incidence.  The best solution is to apply very warm (not hot) compresses at the earliest symptom which usually will prevent the development into a full blown stye.

Try heat: Antibiotics can help a stye from spreading but are not too effective in getting rid of them.  The best thing by far is to applying very warm, not hot, washcloths fpr 4-5 minutes at a time and about 5 times per day which usually over a 3-5 days interval will get rid of the stye.
