8 wks: 1st -gyns start counting weeks of preg based on the 1st day of your last period (I know that's actually 2 wks before you ovulate &amp; conceive , but that's the convention ). Generally , an ectopic will rupture @ the 8th week +/- a week . Rarely , people might go to 12 wks , its almost impossible to go to viability (@24 + weeks).

It depends: The length of time is related to the response seen in blood tests. If the levels show a fall, it may be possible to avoid surgery though it may take weeks.

Never.: An ectopic pregnancy should never be carried. The nature of an ecotpic pregnancy is that it's located in a place that cannot support it for both the sake of the mother and the developing fetus. The fetus needs a placenta to implant in a place with good blood supply and a place that won't harm the mother and the only place for this is in an intact uterus. Otherwise there is a high risk of bleeding.

i had an operation on the 21st of april 2019, i had ectopic pregnancy. i no longer have leave days and my employer expects me to be at work even though i had an operation.

am i good to be at work just 5 days after my operation

Post Op: You have not included information that would allow an answer. If you had laparoscopy and your job is low impact then return to work within five days is possible.  If your job is very manually intensive or you were opened then more time may be needed. Discuss with your doctor his/her recommendation.

Other tube: Having one ectopic does increase your risk of another ectopic. Your baseline fertility is not affected. The functional status of the remaining tube can be assessed by your doctor if you are having trouble getting pregnant.

Unlikely: Unfortunately the odds are against a good outcome in pregnancies that are outside the uterine cavity. The fallopian tube can only expand so far before rupture so that eliminates the possibility of tubal pregnancies making it to viability. Rarely abdominal pregnancies can result in a liveborn baby but the risks to mother and baby are very great. Sorry to hear about your situation.

Dangerous: An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy implanting in a place other than the intrauterine cavity. Most are in the fallopian tube. Other site include ovary, uterine cornua, cervix, etc. If untreated , they most likely will rupture causing internal hemorrhage which is life threatening.  There have been cases of ectopics implanting in the abdomen and developing. These are rare and very dangerous.

More than 50 %: Counter to what one would think, after removal of a fallopian tube chances to conceive are not reduced by 50 %, but by approx. 20 %.

my wife had an ectopic pregnancy. she was administered methotrexate 4 weeks and 2 days ago. her hcg is now at 96 and we arent having to go in every week for blood work any longer. when is it safe to have protected sex again?

: You may have sex when your wife is ready. Sex will not interfere with the healing of the terminated ectopic pregnancy.

did  having 3 previous c-sections cause me to get an ectopic pregnancy ?

Possibly: Repeated pelvic surgery, which includes a c-section can cause the formation of scar tissue (adhesions) which can block your fallopian tubes (which carry the egg from the ovary to the uterus) and then cause an ectopic pregnancy.  This is because the fertilized egg cannot reach the uterus to implant where it belongs.  Repeated c-sections are associated with reduced fertility.
