how long does salmonella live in the refrigerator? it's been a year since we defrosted a turkey. i hoone.. is it dead? salmonella scares me.

It's not worth it...: The turkey is dead. The Salmonella and other bacteria... who knows? There's a reason for cleaning out refrigerators every month, and throwing out old stuff. Fresh poultry can be at 1-40 degrees only a few days. In the deep freeze, below 0 degrees, maybe 6-12 months. A raw turkey, sitting in the fridge for a whole year... put it in the trash on trash day (with any other old stuff from the fridge).

had to stop trazadone cold turkey elevated liver enzymes. terrible insomnia . how long does it last?

Other relief availab: The Trazadone is one medication which you can stop and it will leave the body completely within 4-6 weeks. However, there are other medications that can help you sleep and remain calm that can be taken while the Trazadone is leaving your body; sublingual Melatonine can be taken for example.

recently i had abnormal results on a liver function test. ast = 215 / alt = 135. drinking is the issue. i don't think i can stop cold turkey. will the liver still be able to heal if i cut back by say 95%? or is abstinence required for liver to heal?

: Cutting by 95% is better than current practice. You should try to quit alcohol entirely. Do not take acetaminophen (Tylenol). 
Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever. It will destroy your brain cells, damage testicular cells that make testosterone, facilitate development of cancer in many organs, cause hepatitis, cirrhosis and pancreatitis etc. There is no safe level.

i heard that you should cook your turkey stuffing before you stuff it in your raw turkey. why?

Cook Separately!: The Turkey cooks better without the dressing in it. Cook the dressing separately. Have a great Thanksgiving and refrigerate the leftovers ASAP and don't get food poisoning.

stopped lithium cold turkey for a month now. starting to get everything together. how much longer should it take?

For?: Discontinuing lithium like this is not advisable ... Best to discuss with your psychiatrist to come up with a better plan for the goals you have and ways you&#x27;d like to accomplish them.  Wish I had a better answer ... Best of luck!

my m.d. told me to stop taking lexapro (escitalopram) i no longer need it. should i walk away from it cold turkey or do i need to step down/

Speaking : Speaking as a non psychiatrist:  Lexapro is a serotonin uptake inhibitor in the same family as prozac, zoloft, paxil, (paroxetine) luvox, and celexa.  All are used to treat depression and/or anxiety.  If you took Lexapro with complete relief of your target symptoms i would recommend staying on it for at least 9 months.  Then you would have the option of tapering off or staying on it.  Withdrawal symptoms are not much of a problem after stopping lexapro, but it's always prudent to taper off over a few days.  The higher the dose, the longer the taper.  I don't like folks to stop it during the dark months.  If you stop it and symptoms recure, you can resume the same medication and expect the same benefit.

a few bites into turkey burg before realizing it's raw in middle despite thermometer saying 165. should i worry about sallmonella? probiotics help?

Accepted Answer

No: Hopefully you will not develop any symptoms. It is not necessary to start treatment proactively. Should you get any symptoms see a physician immediately for treatment. If you are on probiotics,it does not hurt to continue your medication

Take a vacation: Go some place far enough away that you can't get any meth.  Craving should go up & down.  You could try working w/ na
good luck.

kept unopened, still in package, raw chicken in refrigerator for few days, its now two days past it expiration date. it remains unopened. is it safe to cook and eat?

Accepted Answer

: I would be sure to get its core temperature up to 185 F if baking or fry it well. The expiration date is more their date it would retain its best taste that a sign it would turn toxic.  I would cook and eat it in that setting.

: HIV transmission is not possible in above described scenario, HIV does not survive on inanimate surfaces, check cdc.gov for accurate information regarding HIV transmission. Other superficial infections remain possible and watching the wound until healed would be recommended.
