i just started xarelto for possible dvt yesterday - they're waiting for d dimer results to determine if this is longer term thing. i bonked my forehead this afternoon and am panicked about a bleed. no bruise, no bump, no headache - feel fine. ?

Trauma with Xarelto.: If you develop new symptoms within the next hour or two you need to proceed to the emergency room pronto.  Otherwise just be more careful and concerned.

my son hit his head hard on a 2x4 wood while running. took him to er, they said he was fine. noticed the bumb is no longer hard, but squishy. and light bruising and bump on his right eyelid. hes sleeping, but cant help but worry?

: This is common in kids. If the injury did not knock him out, cause instability, memory loss or other symptoms he should do fine. The initial knot is blood under the scalp that gradually breaks down leaving a bruise. I would expect off &amp; on headaches this week, or not. Let him sleep but check on him without waking him. If he starts vomiting repeatedly take him back.

Need to see the skin: Impossible to say without seeing the bumps. The diagnosis of skin problems relies heavily on being able to see and touch the skin. In general, skin sores that are enlarging or that persist beyond a couple of weeks should be seen by your primary care provider.

Yes: Certain insects, when they sting or bite, actually inject an anticoagulant material into the area so the blood flows to them more easily. This can lead to leaving a bruise in the area after the bite/sting. Best thing is cold compress or even ice pack initially, then after a few days switch to warm packs to help bruise resolve.

Could be permanent..: If you injured your scull - as bruise .Hematoma ( blood collection in subcutaneous tissue) heals over time - body uses its mechanism for absorbing it .But hematomas close to bone surface ( as shin, scull) May create persistent ” bump” due to deposits of calcium to hematoma as process of healing. Inflammation or hematoma attracts calcium . It become just cosmetic annoyance.

R u on any medicines: Such as aspirin, blood thinners, steroids, herbal medicines?  How old r u?  Has this ever happened to you before?  Is there a family history of easy bruising?  Some lab tests such as bleeding time or platelet count can be done to look further into issue.

Some Bleeding: disorders such as some forms of hemophilia can be associated with easy bruising.  Also, some medications (even heavy doses of aspirin) can cause someone to bruise more easily and some people that are very fair skinned will bruise easier than others. This is something you should discuss with your doctor and they may wish to run some tests to determine whether any treatment is indicated.

Have it evaluated: Get it evaluated. See a doctor, get examined and have x rays or other appropriate tests done. There are several possible causes.

Bump to head: Time will heal this. You can put ice on the area and use acetaminophen for the pain.
