Infant Diarrhea Care: Ensure your baby drinks plenty of fluids. If there is any vomiting, try an oral rehydration solution (such as Pedialyte).

Do not give medications to stop the diarrhea.

Watch for dehydration (not making tears when crying, eyes sunken, inside of mouth dry/sticky) and be seen if concerned for dehydration.

Use plenty of diaper ointment to prevent diaper rash.

If over a few days,: See a doc. It may not be anything serious, but if it is it can be very bad to let it go on for long. Becoming dehydrated is not at all a good idea and that can happen quickly. For the first day or two, you can try over-the-counter remedies (ask the druggist) and eat or avoid certain foods - eat bananas, blueberries, rice, toast, yogurt, tea - avoid dairy, fatty & sweet foods. But see a doc soon!

Overdue: Med isn't working.  Stop trying to self-medicate.  See GP or Gastroenterologist immediately.  Your body is telling you something's wrong.  Listen to it.

Unlikely: If you have a normal gastrointestinal system, it would take a massive volume of water over time to cause diarrhea. If you have a GI virus, trying to hydrate can cause diarrhea to worsen and you may need IV fluids then. Dehydration, caused by simple evaporation from skin or low water intake will not cause diarrhea.
