They should not.: Probiotics are just normal bacteria which typically do NOT cause infections...they're called non-pathogenic bacteria. They help populate the colon with normal, healthy bacteria, taking up the space and the resources in the colon so there's no room for the bad kind of bacteria. Tooth infections are usually caused by gum disease or issues with oral hygiene. Talk to your dentist.

Yes: A tooth can be infected with intermittent pain and/or minimal or no pain.  A thorough dental exam with the appropriate x-ray(s) can help confirm a diagnosis.

Yes: The easy answer is yes.  If your 30 min late on a dose it's not a huge deal.  Just try to stick to the 6hr time frame as close as you can.  If you're getting the appropriate total dosage in each 12-hr period you should be fine.

i have a tooth infection i'm taking hydrocodon and penicillin. for two days now. how soon til my jaw swelling goes away?  so i can pull the tooth.

Soon, but...: Penicillins can take 1-2 days to really kick in and start to reduce infection and swelling.  You should see improvement soon.  If you are not getting better, you should go back to the dentist who gave you the prescription.  They may need to switch you to a different medication.

Puromycin: Not available in US, so there is little that i can tell you other than it does not resemble Penicillin chemically. Know that antibiotics control tooth infections, but removal of the damaged tooth material (extraction or root canal treatment) required for a cure. Pills alone will not fix your problem. Please review this with your Dentist.

Probably not: There isn't a lot of transmission of fluids from women to men during intercourse; this is more likely to be a problem for a penicillin-allergic woman whose male partner is taking penicillin.

Diagnosis: Is the key. Some infections are resistant to penicillin. You should see your md or dentist and be sure you can take penicillin for the infection and then see your dentist to treat the cause. Antibiotics only buy time, treatment is the cure and you run the risk of the penicillin not working the next time you need to take it. Having said all the above 500mg 4x/day.

Cipro (ciprofloxacin): Cipro (ciprofloxacin) will be the next choice. This medication is to treat a variety of bacterial infections, not viral infection! 
take this medication as directed by your prescribing dentist/physician. Do not self medicate.
