Indirect inguinal hernia could cause pain at penile base.

: Use of mesh is standard in repair of inguinal hernias resulting in less operative time and faster recovery as well as much less recurrence of hernia. Of course no one can completely promise no complications of mesh use. If you're not obese and want to avoid use of mesh, be prepared for a more painful procedure and a much longer time to full activities.

Yes some times: it happens , the blood gavottes in to scrotum  causing huge swelling  , it will disappear in wk to months time ,  speak to your surgeon

apply ice and wear some kind of athletic support to keep them elevated
again apply ice.
check with your surgeon, but this is very normal.

: Inguinal hernia repair should not affect the voiding (no anatomy relationship between the hernia and urinary system). However, if general anesthesia was used, some men may have urinary retention post op but it is a very rare complication with the current anesthetic method.
