It does not restore-: -itself,but with good rehabilitation the remaining fibers can hypertrophy. But partial tears are rare, &amp; usually it is a complete tear but the synovial sleeve may appear as a partial tear when no fibers R present.these knees have findings of ACL incompetence on Sam.

: If the injury was severe enough to tear those two ligaments the joint would be very unstable and cartilage damage would also probably occur. The MRI would tell the story.

Torn LCL: Yeah, trauma is a common cause of torn LCL, but clinical diagnosis is not enough, you would need an MRI to see if it's effectively torn or broken, and with a diagnosis, create a treatment plan (could be just physical therapy or surgery).

Let me explain: When some body have torn lcl and tear of the meniscus she will have pain, this pain may go down by rest and immobilization.
Get the MRI it is safer this way.

No: ER will not know what to do- you need to see an Orthopedic SPorts Medicine Knee specialist who is fellowship trained and experienced in surgery of the LCL- which is difficult and rare

See ORS: Don't know the mechanism of your injury but you need to see a good orthopedist. If you haven't torn your ACL or meniscus you are going to be fine . LCL strains heal on their own when mild. A good examination by a board certified orthopedist will tell u what's up... PT's are great but they are not physicians... See your ORS! Best of Luck!

after i take of the brace my leg is stiff and i have pain in my left knee and back. it has been 4 weeks since lcl tear, can i do spin classes and yoga?

Probably: Cycling and yoga are probably not going to make it worse
i'd wait until totally better for sports or activities with cutting or contact.

i injured my knee two weeks ago.  i am having surgery for a complete lcl third degree tear with a bicep femoris tendon retraction.  how long until i will be able to walk with crutches after my surgery?

Accepted Answer

Minimum: 2-3 weeks; however depending on the extent of the repair and time in OR 4-6 weeks is logical. I strongly recommend postoperative physical therapy.
