how do you get dental floss out if stuck between two of your teeth?

Gently.......: Gently raise up, when stuck, gently pull toward one of the two teeth, then gently downward.  You should then be able to pull string out because there is a space at the base of the tooth near the gum and often no space where  teeth meet at the biting edge.  If doesn't do the trick, gently rinse and swish around with warm salt water, let it sit for a while & try again.Tug up a bit harder this time.

DEPENDS....: In many cases you can remove it by using another floss, knotted and pulled through, but in some cases  (like when you have deeper pockets and thicker gums around your teeth) you can even cause the piece go in deeper inside. This may cause an inflammation and tenderness due to foreign body reaction. See your dentist to check it out.

Floss daily: Dental floss should not be controversial. Floss at least once daily. When you floss, don't just snap it in and out. You use the floss to go under your gum line and "scrape" the surface of your teeth clean, where your tooth brush does not reach. It truly is the single most effective thing you can do to maintain the health of your teeth and gums.

Yes: This can happen, but not common. If you are having pain in the gum and it feels that something is in there, try gargling several times daily with luke warm water to help loosen it. If that does not work, then see your dentist for help!

There : There are lots of different types of floss.  Try different brands, types and flavors until you find one you like.  Typically if your teeth are very tight then one that glides or are shred resistant would work best.  If you have wider spaces you can use braided or woven floss.  I recommend ones with Fluoride in them to patients that are more cavities prone.  The ones with holders are okay too but more expensive and patients sometimes hurt their tender gums on the plastic edges.  The important part is getting in between the teeth where your toothbrush does not fit but plenty of bacteria can.

Nope: Orthodontists do not use dental floss to straighten teeth. Wires, brackets, springs, elastics, and invisalign trays are accepted methods. If you were thinking of doing it yourself with floss, the answer is still no. You can't do what it takes a professional years of experience to learn.
