Infection can spread: Yes -I would be worried if u have redness, increased warmth of the skin, pain and/or a fever that ur developing an extension of your problem. Infections of the head and neck/face demand attention, because the all important BRAIN is nearby and you really don't want trouble there. Best thing to do is call your doc to be seen today. You may need drainage and antibiotics. If doc not available, goto ER

Dental abscess: A dental abscess can not be completely treated at home.  If a dentist can see you today that would be ideal. If not they may be able to prescribe an antibiotic and/or pain killer as a short term solution. In the mean time keep this tooth clean with gentle brushing and warm salt water rinses. Avoiding sweet and sticky foods should help as well. Good luck.

Abcess: An abcessed tooth needs to be treated with a root canal. Antibiotics will reduce the swelling temporarily, but if the tooth is not treated, the swelling will return.

: Make sure you take an antibiotic to prevent any more spreading of abscess. Try a dental clinic in a hospital or travel to LONDON  to find a dentist who can help you. Losing a tooth that can be saved can be more harmful to your dentition as well as costly. You don't want to take antibiotics for ov er two months.

Stay with antibiotic: ... and try to get to your dentist ASAP, not when it blows up again. You can't stay on antibiotics for very long.

NO: You must treat the source of the infection.
The antibiotics will only be a temporary solution.
A tooth abscess  is normally treated with a root canal or extraction and possibly in conjunction with 
antibiotics.

Pulpitis: is a non infected inflammation of the contents of the tooth and generally means the tooth is injured or a cavity has reached a depth where infection is beginning. An abscess occurs when pulpitis is not treated (root canal treatment) Hope this is helpful and will follow for my dental colleague's answers to this question..

i have completed taking a course of clindmacyin and amoxcillin and now i'm out of amoxcillin. i still have the tooth abscess and i can't get a dentist till monday. what should i do?

Find a dentist now: You should have seen a dentist while you were on the antibiotics. If they have not worked than you are probably dealing with a resistant strain of bacteria. Until you remove the source of the infection by extracting the tooth or getting a root canal you will continue to have worsening problems. I am sure you can find a dentist to see you before mon. If not  then go to the er at your local hospital.
