Depends...: ...On how aggressive the peel was, more than anything else. Superficial peels with erbium:yag lasers typically heal in a few days, while deeper peels with more powerful lasers may take a week or longer. Fractional laser treatments sometimes take even longer than that -- depending, once again, on how aggressive the procedure was.

Allergies?: If you have had these symptoms for a year, it's likely not an infection but more likely an allergy.  Sometimes people with allergies have nasal polyps which can cause constant congestion.  See your doctor, you may need referral to an ENT or Allergist.  Good luck!

Inflammation: It would be unusual to have both sides of the face swell from sinusitis. If there is associated redness, you must get checked for cellulitis which is a serious problem in the malar areas of the face due to proximity to the brain.

Oral surgeon: See the oral surgeon. Many infections are so severe that drains must be placed to allow the infection to be released. This is not uncommon in facial swelling. Most often, though, it just takes time after the tooth is treated/extracted and the antibiotics complete their work. You might even need a second course of different antibiotics. Nothing to fool around with -- be seen right away.

How long?: If this has been present for just a couple of days, a viral infection is likely but need to consider a strep infection as well.  If this has been a chronic problem, you need to get the throat evaluated by your doctor. In the meanwhile, may try OTC anesthetic lozenges.

Can take a few days: Your swelling may not subside for a few days.. that's perfectly normal. I agree that the infection should be controlled before the tooth is extracted. Let your dentist monitor your condition.

Facial swelling: The swelling that is normally expected is usually proportional to the surgery involved.   swelling around the mouth, cheeks, eyes, and sides of the face is not uncommon.   this is the body's normal reaction to surgery and eventual repair.   the swelling will not become apparent until the day following surgery and will not reach its maximum until 2-3 days post-operatively.   use frozen pea packs.

Call your dentist: Typically it can take 24 hours for an antibiotic to take effect. If the swelling  and or pain is severe and increasing the you should call the dentist  and report this.  It may be necessary to change the antibiotic or  do. Another treatment to provide relief for you.
