No treatment: There is no specific treatment. Surgery is indicated if you develop spontaneous splenic rupture. Avoid dangerous activities that can place you at risk for splenic injury.

No : Not common to see swollen spleen, except when massively enlarged.

You decide: Alcohol is detoxified by liver cells along with other body wastes. Mono tends to create some liver injury/sensitivity which increases the toxic effect of alcohol on the liver.Death of liver cells can &amp; does occur sometimes in this setting.The liver can re-grow cells &amp; recover, but since you only have one it would be reasonable to take care of it by delaying or reducing alcohol during your recovery

Non operative/ surgi: Up to 90% of ruptured spleen can be manger nonoperatively.  In certain situation were persistent bleeding or risk of future recurrent bleeding, a surgical splenectomy will be advised/ inevitable.

More workup: There can be many causes such as parotitis, cat scratch fever, cervical lymphadenopathy and viral illnesses.

Duration of illness: The fact that one's spleen swells during the course of mononucleosis means that the spleen is functioning properly.  It is a filter for bacteria and abnormal blood cells, and as such will swell in a state that gives rise to these conditions.  The spleen size is often monitored by your doctor while you are ill and the recession of spleen size is an indication of improving health.

Pain can happen: If you have mono &amp; 
If your spleen is involved ...
It might swell and stretch the splenic capsule causing pain. The spleen also might break open and bleed in worst cases. Although mono sounds like a reasonable explanation of your pain, please stay in close contact with your doctor to keep tabs on this.

i just got over a sever case of mono i know my spleen is swollen but all my symptoms have been gone for about 2 weeks can i start doing light lifts?

Up to 5 pounds: The risk you are trying to avoid is spleen rupturing.  Lifting is very unlikely to do that, so light lifting is fine. Basically you can lift light loads as this is not going to rupture the spleen,  probably 5-10 pounds, no more. More importantly,  you need to avoid activities that you could accidentally get kicked or hit in the abdomen with. So even just wrestling playfully on floor could injure.
