Warm soaks: If you have a vaginal cyst or boil then try warm soaks and see if it will go away. Do not squeeze it. If it does not resolve see your doctor for an exam.

can major stress cause ingrown hair? never got ingrown hairs after shaving but for the last year ive been under such mental stress/worry and now i have the problem i can shave without getting ingrown hair. what can help and can stress cause this?

: I cannot think of a way stress could cause ingrown hairs. But best to consult with a dermatologist and maybe have a hair biopsy to see what is going on,

Symptomatic care: You can try removing the hair if it is ingrown and allowing any pus to drain. This may be all that you need to do. If the redness or pus persists you may need an antibiotic. You could start with a topical generic triple antibiotic lotion. If that doesn't work then you may need a course of oral antibiotics.

Infection: Try regular use of Hibicleanse or other bactericidal soap daily and see if that effects the rash

Pimples: Sounds like follicular is where a bacteria or yeast or fungus gets into the "pores". Shaving with an unclean razor might provoke it.

Shaving issues...: Shaving might cause problems in some people which include ingrown hairs, inflammation, infections. My recommendation is to probably use alternative ways to get rid of the hair if the problem is recurrent. You might need to see a Dermatologist and consider permanent hair removal treatment.

If it is oozing: If you have an abscess get the hair pulled and drain the pus.  Your doctor will perform an incision and drainage (i and d) if need be.  You may be infected and drainage with antibiotics.  See your doctor.

i constantly get scared i have contracted herpes but it is impossible to tell if an ingrown hair is herpes or just an ingrown.. what is the difference?

Very different: Herpes hurts or tingles about a day ahead of time, then forms a fluid filled bump that then opens, crusts, and finally heals.  The process, without medicines, takes about a week.  An infected hair follicle forms a bump that turns red, fills with pus, and is painful.  If heals after it drains.  If there's a doubt in your mind, a doctor can tell you which it is after looking at it.

Yes: Children are susceptible to the same problems with ingrown hairs as adults, however, the decreased amount of body hair makes it a little more rare than in adults.
