Most : Most 17 year olds don't get hot flashes. However if you are being treated for panic attacks or anxiety disorder, this can cause symptoms that are similar. I would ask your psychiatrist about this. Take care.

Sometimes: Sometimes sudden increases in blood pressure can make the face red, but flushing is often associated with the body's own temperature regulation, or can also be drug-relaed (i.e. Niacin can do it as can others).

Don't think so...: "swelling up" as in the fingers, hands, feet, and lower legs becoming fuller in hot weather is usually due to more blood flow to the hands and feet. This is called vasodilation, and occurs when a person is hot. His body sends more blood flow to his skin (including the hands and feet) because that helps cool his body down. It is not considered a sign of high blood pressure.

No: The blood pressure may have gone up if the hot sauce was really hot but hypertension is a diagnosis over time and is not diagnosed on an acute event.  If there is a concern, see if you can take blood pressures over a few weeks with a bought or borrowed cuff and if consistently over 140 on the top number or 90 on the bottom number, see a pcp and get checked out!

: A hot tub could cause dilatation of your arteries and low blood pressure especially if you are not well hydrated. While hypertension(uncontrolled) or medications used for blood pressure control could be the cause, prolonged exposure to hot water during warm weather is  more likely. It is important that you limit the time you spend in the hot tub and see your doctor to look into this.

No: Hot flashes are associated with increasing hormone fluctuations as you approach menopause.  They are not a result of high blood pressure.

Considering about 30% of population has HTN, it is fairly common. Smoking and/or any act that stresses the body or mind can drive BP up in someone wo already has HTN or is genetically "ripe" to develop  HTN

Multiple causes: There are many causes of high BP.  Aging and hardening of arteries are the most common  causes.  Very few have cure.  The treatments can be directed to the specific causes, if known.  However, essential hypertension is one when the cause is unknown.  Most high BP can be controlled but not cured by behavioral treatment, lifestyle modification, diet, exercise, weight loss and medication.
