Sameway: Spegalian hernia develops inside the layers abdominal wall muscles, lateral to rectus abdominal muscle ( semilunrar line  ) it could be repaired by open incision , or by laparoscopic method as shown in picture the  defect  as seen through the scope  usually a mesh graft used to fill the weakness , most of the time home  by next day, speak to your surgeon.

See a doctor: You do not need to go to a hospital for a doctor's physical exam. Have the exam first, then discuss what is found, and what are your options. It would be a minor outpatient surgical procedure, if needed, and there are smaller outpatient facilities that are not at hospitals. Some small hernias could just be observed too, but need an exam first.

Sure.: The doctors were trained in fine hospitals or they would not be in a military hospital. Relax, this is relatively easy surgery unless a strange issue arises. Navy surgeons are almost as good as air force surgeons. You don't have to worry. If you are concerned get a second opinion.
