The issue: Honey can contain botulism spores. In the immature gut of a baby these can hatch into botulism germs &amp; form a toxin that paralyzes their muscles. The most worrisome would be those that control breathing. Infant botulism can come on quietly, but if you monitor your baby with feeds &amp; these proceed vigorously the baby is likely fine. If feeding falls off, movement becomes less, etc take it to be seen

Spores: Infant botulism results from the ingestion of the c. Botulinum spores in the honey, and subsequent colonization of the small intestine.   As the spores "hatch" the botulism bacteria grow and subsequently produce the toxin that causes botulism.

We discourage people from offering this in any quantity under age 1 yr. After a year it does not seem to be a problem. : This is relatively rare and usually seen in infants fer honey as a treat. The practice in common in some cultures. The chances of it happening in the setting you describe are not zero but very close to it. If the kid stops pooping and feedings drop off it could be a consideration.
