Thyroid nodule: Needs evaluation to see if it is a cyst or a solid tumor and possible get a fine needle biopsy to make sure if it is cancerous or not. There has been no good evidence that homeopathy works for thyroid nodules.

Nodule: If you have a complex thyroid nodule that meets certain criteria a thyroid nodule biopsy under ultrasound could be preformed.  It is a simple procedure done with local anesthetic.  Most thyroid modules are overwhelmingly benign.   If positive additional studies and likely removal of that lone of the thyroid.

Bleeding in nodule: Solitary nodules usually require needle biopsy.  Most are benign and asymptomatic.  I assume yours was diagnosed with a needle biopsy.  Rarely there can be spontaneous bleeding into a cystic nodule, which can cause pain and is usually harmless.

i have a thyroid nodule but the ultra sound said it was small  and no need for further treatment. why do i still feel like i am chocking?

Must b another cause: Choking sensation in the throat can be due to something other than an abnormality in the thyroid.  Because the anatomy in that area includes the vocal cords, the trachea, esophagus, epiglottis; abnormalities in any of these other areas may cause a choking sensation.  See doc. Common cause is swelling of the larynx or vocal cord from acid reflux which is treated with a trial of an acid reducer med.

: You give more info with this question and this explain why CT of the neck has been ordered. However, my answer is the same, the nodule is likely benign but fine needle biopsy will be the next step. Take care.

Many : Many factors effect whether surgery is appropriate. The size of the nodule, thyroid blood tests, biopsy findings from the nodule, and findings on thyroid ultrasound. These all need to be considered to make a sensible decision on how best to proceed. And your anxiety about cancer and family history of cancer also must be factored in during your discussion with your endocrinologist. I suggest a visit with an endocrinologist before any surgery is done. Most (90%) of thyroid nodules are not cancerous.

i have thyroid nodules and had i131 treatment 3 years ago. my thyroid tests always come back normal. is seeking a second opinion reasonable?

If you want ,yes: Now it is Important is what is in that  nodule , is it a benign nodule or it has malignant component in it . Thyroid function  could be normal but usually need supplement after  I 131 treatment . Speak to your doctor first  for more information and for possible   FNA ( Fine needle aspiration biopsy )

Many factors: Thyroid nodules are usually  evaluated with ultrasounds and blood tests. Biopsies may also be done. Ultimately the treatment for a thyroid nodule depends on many factors, inlcuding a complete physical examination, that  are best assessed by your physician.

None (in theory): If everyone is certain that the nodule is a benign tumor, or adenoma, no treatment is necessary.  The problem is that cells from follicular adenomas & follicular cancers can look identical.  However, somewhere in the cancer, cells are growing through the capsule or into blood vessels or lymph vessels.  So most follicular adenomas are removed to make sure a follicular cancer is not missed.

is it possible for thyroid nodules, associated with hashimoto's, to completely disappear without any treatment?

Accepted Answer

Hashimoto's: Hashimoto's thyroiditis is an autoimmune disorder in which your bodies immune system attacks your thyroid.  The thyroid usually shrinks over time in this disease.  I would be surprised if thyroid nodules also disappear with this disease.  If they grow they should be evaluated at some point.
