Get checked out: People misusing their voices are abusing their vocal cord leading at times to vocal cord nodule. The cough and sore throat are unusual however. There is no home remedy other than stopping abusing your vocal cord and that may mean no more singing until you can evaluated by a vocal cord specialist whom you should see anyway.

Voice rest: And salt water gargles and rest.If this is not a result of cheering for your team then it may be the start of a viral sore throat.Back to answer # 1:voice rest, warm saline gargles and personal rest.I'd also advise chicken noodle soup as well.If mom can prepare it you'll recover faster.

Lemon, honey, water: Try glycerin losenges.  Avoid all menthol.  Mix lemon honey and warm water and drink it.  Use Mucinex (guaifenesin) otc - the plain form.

Rest: Your best bet is rest and not using voice and speaking as little as possible. But anti inflammatories like Ibuprofen can help. If more serious then cortisone can help too. Drink cold fluids too. But if symptoms not improving see your doctor for sure.

Vocal cord issue: Hoarseness in children is often the result of acid reflux, which can cause chronic irritation of the vocal cords.  Less commonly, vocal cord damage from a procedure such as intubation, or polyps can create a similar sound.  A doctor that specializes in this region, such as an ENT, should be able to clarify this for you.

Croup: Worsening symptoms after croup.  See your doctor to evaluate his throat for any deterioration.

: Reinke's edema is not a precancerous condition although it is almost always seen in smoker. However, literature suggests it may occur secondary to voice overuse, thyroid disease, hormonal change, and stomach acid reflux. Treating Reinke's edema may involve voice therapy or surgery besides treating the identified cause.

You have irritated: your vocal cords. They need rest. Moist air helps.  Your doc can give a cortisone spray if you MUST sing or speak.  Other wise, be quiet and maybe use menthol cough drops.

See a doctor: Multiple possible causes for this, including reflux esophagitis, post-nasal drip, infections, etc.  An exam may help reveal cause and lead to effective treatment.  Hope you feel better soon.
