ENT or Primary Care: Are you having any type of tooth pain? What you are describing sounds like the start of an ear infection. Schedule an appointment with your primary care physician or an ENT for further evaluation. They might place you on an antibiotic.

i have hollow echoey sound in right ear when i chew sometimes. i'm not sick; it doesn't hurt. do not have tmj (that i know). had for abt 4 wks. ideas?

Eustachian Tube: Most likely eustachian tube dysfunction. The et connects the back of the throat with the middle ear. The cardinal signs of TMJ dysfunction are tm joint pain, joint clicking and limited oral opening.

See below: This could be coming from your jaw joint eing out of alignment.  Did anything happen in  the last ten days that changed things regarding your jaw?
    Try moving your jaw side to side and open and close your mouth thast might loosen the muscles and remove the sound your having.
   You should also go to an ENT specialist just to check your ears.

Two possibilities: Your eustachian tube can be too open. It normally stays closed and opens with pressure changes or swallowing. If it is open always, it can cause you to hear  your own breath sounds. It should get better with lying down. Or you could have a superior semicircular canal dehiscence, which means a compartment of your inner ear has a hole in it. It will not make your symptom better with lying down.

Ear infection: You may have swimmer's ear or a middle ear infection. You should see your doc and get ear drops and/or oral antibiotics. There is, however, a chance you have a viral infection.  See your doc ASAP. Good healing!!!

Eustachian tube : The sensation of ear fullness and decreased hearing can be related to blockage of the eustachian tube (the tube that runs from your middle ear space to the back of your nose) or from fluid which has accumulated in the middle ear space.  Decongestants can sometimes help, but occassionally nasal steroids or antibiotics are required.

i have a humming in my right ear for 7 months, when you tap on my skull, neck or sinus area you can hear a hollow sound.  what is this?

Not sure...: Humming or ringing in one's ears should be evaluated by your md. Both air and bone conduction tests will distinguish between sensory, neural, and conductive hearing loss. Although the "hollow" sound you describe sounds like a normal tapping sound, if you're concerned an evaluation would be appropriate.

i have troubles with my right ear. when i tap on the side of my face i can hear a hollow tap, and when i move my right side of the jaw i can hear air come out of it like a wind sound, i can barely hear out of it when i listen to music. now it hurts.
