i'm 50/m. my neurosurgeon recommended not to treat a cerebral aneurysm measuring 3mm and monitor annually. the headaches that led to this incidental finding persists after 9 weeks - it hurts when sneeze or bend. how do i find remedy? which dr. to see?

: Since some studies have noted that aneurysms typically must be larger than 9 mm prior to rupture, the recommendations make sense.  The headaches are NOT caused by the aneurysm and may be due to sinusitis, TMJ or dental issues, neck problems, or tension cephalgia but more likely migraine mechanisms.  A medical neurologist who deals with headaches would be the next step.

Maybe ...: Where is your pain?  If its a headache it is more likely that you are just aware that internal body pressure changes cause headaches, but its possible that the aneurysm is causing headache.  Talk to your neurologist.

No: You will not get injured or die from holding in a sneeze. The function of sneezing is to expel mucus containing infectious agents (virus, bacteria, etc.), foreign particles or irritants and cleanse the nasal cavity. By not expelling mucus, you may be more likely to develop airway infection or allergic response such as asthma if you are susceptible.

Not likely: It is not likely that sneezing would cause a placental tear. Most pregnant women sneeze at some point during pregnancy and we do not see placental tearing in these cases.

Sprain? Air leak?: Doctor can evaluate. A collapsed lung (pneumothorax) is due to an air leak from the inside of the lung through the covering of the lung, out into the space between the lung and the ribs. The site of the leak has some damage, which will heal itself. The leaked air stays inside the rib cage and takes up space, preventing the lung from fully inflating (the lung stays partly "collapsed").

Shouldn't : This shouldn't cause a punctured lung, but there are circumstances where it can. If the patient is predisposed to a spontaneous punctured lung (pneumothorax), then it might.

last night i sneezed while holding in urine. i had the most terrible pain around my uterine/female area. it lasted a couple seconds then went away. i'm around ovulation time. what could it be and what should i do?

Several possibilitis: One possibility is that you ovulated at that moment and experienced the pain called "mittelschmerz". You may also have had a bladder pain from the sudden pressure on your full bladder, and there are other possibilities too. If it recurs or other symptoms develop, talk to your doctor!
