: Were the equations dose based? 50 mgs of.metoprolol is a mild to moderate dose. Some patients take 100 mgs twice a day. In any event when your heart rate reaches over 140/ min, you're most likely overriding beta blockade. I doubt there's a precise way to accurately predict beta blockers' effect on your heart rate during vigorous exercise.

i take metoprolol 25mg twice daily . i feel like its too much. i feel like im going to pass out and i will check my pressure and it will be 90/58 . can i half the dose and just take half in mornings and other st night? its scored?

: All depends on why you are taking the medication.  But if it is causing side effects and low blood pressure you may need to reduce the dose.  Would discuss with your PCP or whoever prescribed the medication for you and follow their recommendation on dosage.

: I've just answered your question. Low heart rate decreases the cardiac output so low blood pressure will be the norm. Most medications which use to lower the rate of sinus tachycardia will likely lower blood pressure, more or less depending on the type. A blood pressure of above 100/70 is perfectly normal at your age, not low at all. Take care.

Same class: both belong to the class of beta-blockers. Bisoprolol and metoprolol are selective B1 blockers. Bisoprolol is dosed between 2.5-10 mg once a day. Metoprolol is dosed between 12.5 - 100 mg once or twice a day depending on if it is extended release. Please discuss with her primary care physician.
