Not many: As far as healing goes if you follow all of the pre and post operative instructions. My patients have little if any swelling or post operative pain and I do 99% of them under local only. Most have them removed on a thurs and are back in the world on monday. If your case is more complex with the nerve being involved other issue may arise however if it is straight forward the above applies.

Blood clot: You could be seeing the remains of the blood clot.  If you have severe pain or swelling call the oral surgeon that removed your wisdom teeth about this.

Same thing: Same thing that would happen if you use recreational cocaine at any other time, it will do damage to your body and may eventually kill you.  Codeine, however, in prescription medication, may help you feel better if you are still sore.  However if you are still sore, return to the Surgeon for reevaluation.

Yes: Yes,  keep yourself wel hydrated.   8 glasses of water per day,   no hard rinsing .   No alchohol - alchohol may slow down healing or contaminate the clot.

Be Careful: First 1-3 days keep anything with pieces or bits in it out of the mouth. Prime example: chicken noodle soup ! the pieces get in the extraction sit, dissolve/disrupt the clot and you get a dry socket. Broth, applesause, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, yogurt without seeds/bits, smoothie ( no berries), pudding, jello, etc.Work your way up to regular diet in the following days--be sensible.Good luck.

Yes, it's normal: Yes and that is ideal to have no bleeding after the first half hour after an extraction.  You might just have some great clotting factors that help prevent bleeding.

Dry Socket Symptoms: Normal to feel some pain & discomfort after extraction, however...If on 3-4th day after the procedure the pain increases substantially & character of pain changes (throbbing more, radiating more to ear & temple) & if the pain medicine that you were taking  now grossly inadequate, then fibrinolytic alveolitis - is high on list of possibilities.  Dressings exist & help immensely, notify office.

After 3 hours: First 3 hours it is best to bite firm on the cotton and hold ice against the outside of your face next to where the tooth was removed.  After 3 hours then eat ice cream and rest if you want.

Accepted Answer

Complications: Continued bleeding is a major complication after wisdom tooth extractions. By alcohol usage, you are increasing this risk of continued bleeding and not being able to get a good clot formation for healing.
