i have weird bug bites/hives on upper arm, should i be concerned?

Maybe: Insect sensitivity with persistent exposure can cause havoc on skin.  First, try to confirm if you truly have bug bites, because you may just be experiencing hives.  Identifying triggers is notoriously difficult, but when they persist for &gt;6wks, one should see a physician to rule out dangerous syndromes. If insects are involved, given the time of year, have an exterminator check for bed bugs/fleas

why do i keep getting hives? hives on upper arm wed. night, kenalog shot in the arm thurs. hives on opposite arm fri. benadryl (diphenhydramine) taken but ineffective.

Many possibilities: While a kenalog (triamcinolone) shot and antihistamines (benadryl) should help with hives they are treating the symptoms only (and it sounds as though they are ineffective for you). See an allergist or dermatologist who can take a complete history and physical  (possibly a skin biopsy as well) to get a proper diagnosis and devise a more effective treatment plan.

Many causes: The cause for hives is often unknown but you may try taking oral antihistamine ( you may need to take 2-3 x the frequency recommended) and see if it helps. At 25 wks of pregnancy, most OTC antihistamines are considered safe.  (cat B).  If not effective, see your doctor.

i have been taking doxy 100 mg twice a day for 6 days. the course is 15 days. today, i have hives on my right upper arm and 2 on my back. stop?

Ask your doc!: Talk to your prescribing physician. Tell him/her what you've noted above. It may or may not be related. Understand why you're supposed to take that antibiotic for that period of time. Are you better? What about the infection getting worse? How about switching to another antibiotic. Could you tolerate development of antibiotic resistance, diarrhea & yeast infections? Talk to ur doc about ur options.

See derm: What you're describing could be one of any number of things if it is true hives should have responded somewhat two Benadryl (diphenhydramine) i would see your doctor to have it looked at you can start with your primary doctor but if you can go to a dermatologist that would be best to proper diagnosis and treatment plan can be implemented.

Causes of hives : Hives can be very complicated . The longer they continue to erupt, the more complicated they may be. If the lesions are staying in the same place, they probably are NOT hives but if they come and go, maybe so. The first meds for this are antihistamines. Viral or vitamin D: Acute urticaria (hives) usually resolves within 6 weeks. An external cause can be identified in approximately 50% of all cases: viral infections are the most common causes and less common triggers include specific drugs or food. 
They can be treated with allegra or Claritin or Zyrtec 1-2 tablets a day
