No: HIV can only be transmitted by blood or body fluids so if you did not have exposure to someone else's blood or bodily fluids you will not get HIV.

On whom?: It is unlikely that you would get HIV from dried blood especially when it was your own.

Footbath Folly: Bleeding, footpaths, on steroids, and worried about HIV. OK. Seeing as how no one reading the post knows if you stopped bleeding (you didn't mention if it stopped), or why you are on steroids, your history, or if you were examined by a doc makes for a guessing in the dark venture. Go see a doctor and get examined. How many people use the same footpath?

hello. i was walking, while wearing slippers that had a rip on the big toe, while also wearing socks that were a bit weak fabric and seen blood on the floor. i avoided, but i am still nervous about hiv. say i did step on it, would i contract hiv?

: HIV cannot be transmitted through above mentioned mechanism, the virus does not live on inanimate surfaces or in the air. There is still a risk for transmission for other germs and the wound should be watched closely until healed.

are toe nails resistant to hiv blood and do not allow blood to go under or over toe nail and cause hiv . do toe nails protect  the same as skin does?

Yes: Toenails are at least as resistant, probably more, to HIV as intact skin ... skin that has no ulcerations, cuts, scrapes and is not a mucous membrane (lining of genitals, rectum, mouth, eyes, etc). Stay well:)

No: HIV or Hep B/C cannot be transmitted in above presented scenario. Skin or soft tissue infections remain possible and watching the wound until healed is recommended.

HIV Test: Hiv antibody testing is highly sensitive and specific, meaning if one has the antibody, the test is unlikely to miss it, unless performed early on before antibodies can be detected. Other tests such as HIV viral load & pcr are available & rarely indicated if the antibody test is normal. Constellation of the symptoms described are more likely due to an isolated etiology than hiv. Practice safety.
