NO: C-reactive protein (CRP) and Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) are non specific markers of inflammation. There are several more specialized tests to check for HIV. Local pharmacies now have an HIV antibody test in the back of the store. I suggest trying this first or seeing  your PCP for more information.

There is not a : There is not a test that is 100% accurate. It only increases or decreases the chances of showing whether you have it or not.

Repeat it once more.: Retest once more to ease your mind. It is very uncommon, but not impossible to test positive after a year. If the repeat test is negative, relax! If you have symptoms that make you afraid you have HIV, get a physical from your doctor as well. If you have continued to practice unsafe sex, then all bets are off &amp; you are at ongoing risk of contracting HIV and other STD's. Use protection from now on.

i was treated with penicillin for primary syphilis a month ago. currently, lymphocytes is 48.2% (ref:20-40) and esr is 14 (ref: 0-10). hiv, hcv ab, hbsag are -ve. is it normal for lymphocytes and esr to stay elevated? or could it be another infection?

: It can take some time for these to normalize. Repeat in another 4 weeks.

: Medical history is important besides lab results. Your current weight and height, occupation, marital status and any underlying physical and mental problems. The timing of musculoskeletal pain, more in the morning or at the end of the day, any aggravating or relief factor(s), etc. Random bone or joint aching is not quite abnormal if you have a job with significantly physical demand.
