May be unrelated: Hernia & blood in stool may not be related. Unless the hernia is large & contains part of the colon, the hernia & rectal bleeding are not likely related. See a doctor. May have hemorrhoids. See a general surgeon about hernia repair.

Need evaluation: Always advisable to get operated , as it is a low risk out patient surgery , associated colonic cancers were described ,  must see a physician and get a colonoscopy done immediately  before hernia repair.

my friend has had hernia mesh surgery years ago what symptoms would there be if the mesh tore she has had a lot of pain her stool is a carmel color?

Maybe recurrence: May have a recurrent hernia if the mesh tore, and that could cause pain. Could also have pain or discomfort from he mesh, but difficult to distinguish from other causes of pain. Shouldn't have anything to do with the stool, which sounds like it is normal. As always, check with the surgeon that fixed the hernia to find out more or get a follow up exam. Hope this helps!

Sometimes : Very large hernias that affect your ability to bear down might adversely affect having bowel movements (bm's) also, hernias that involve a portion of the large intestine can affect this, but it is uncommon. Lastly, pelvic floor relaxation, not necessarily a hernia per se can definitely affect bm's.

Get checked: I am more concerned that you may have a case of appendicitis than any potential complication with the mesh. Get to the ER now if this has been present for over a week.

Adhesions?: Worth going back to the surgeon, getting an examination.  Once possibility is that after surgery, people can have scarring which causes the intestines to get stuck together, causing mild to serious obstructions.  These are called "adhesions" and can produce symptoms like yours.  It could be unrelated as well or you could have a recurrence of the hernia.

about 7 years ago my surgeon found on hiatal hernia the size of a quarter. now takin 2 prevavid daily.why i experience clay colored stools  w ab pain?

Not related: The hiatal hernia is a classic cause of heart burn so you taking the Prevacid (lansoprazole) certainly makes sense. The abdominal pain and clay colored stools suggest that you need to be checked out to make sure that your liver is working properly. Start by seeing a primary care doctor and they should check you direct bilirubin level and any other appropriate blood work. Good luck.
